Job summary

Dartmouth College is seeking a Building Service Technician II to perform maintenance and repair on academic and administrative buildings, systems, and related utilities in Hanover, NH. The role requires experience with MEP systems and a strong safety mindset.

The position involves carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC tasks, use of building automation systems, and collaboration with higher-level technicians. Onsite work with potential overtime and vendor training opportunities are included.

Qualifications

• Four-plus years of experience and knowledge with MEP systems and controls.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle policy.
• Ability to perform carpentry repairs such as repair specialty items such as blackboards, and work with raised floor systems.
• Ability to perform minor electric repairs and demonstrate general understanding of electrical systems and their operation.
• Ability to perform plumbing repairs such as fixture replacement, fix leaking valves, use pro-press fitting and solder joints to make minor pipe/valve repairs, repair minor sections of pipe insulation.
• Ability to make basic HVAC repairs and service including air and water filter replacement, replace belts, clean coils.
• Ability to use HVAC building automation system programs to troubleshoot building issues; understands campus building automation systems and related advanced systems.
• Ability to read and understand building plans and use college data sources for access to building plans and O&M manuals.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently, with sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• On a scheduled work order basis and in emergencies, maintains and repairs Dartmouth College buildings, structures and related fixtures and utilities using trade practices across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and related fields.
• Builds proficiency in campus building automation systems and more complex systems in responsibility areas.
• Assists Building Service Technicians III and IV with more complex tasks or as a learning opportunity.
