Job summary

UT Austin is seeking a Building Automation Systems Operator to join the Facilities Operations and Maintenance team in Austin, TX. You will monitor the campus BAS from a central control room, evaluate alarms, and coordinate responses to ensure reliable building operations across laboratories and iconic facilities.

The role also serves as the after-hours dispatch point for maintenance issues, handling emergency calls and creating accurate work orders while delivering professional customer service

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the campus Building Automation System (BAS) for proper operation of building mechanical systems and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Analyzes computer generated and phoned-in facility related problems, prioritizes and coordinates proper responses.
  • Handles normal and emergency phone calls as the after-hours call center. Dispatches technicians as needed. On occasion will need to be able to respond to crisis situations. Creates accurate and informative work orders.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.

This is a 40 hour work week. Multiple shifts depending on availability with days rotating to include some weekends. hours to be discussed with supervisor.

Purpose:

This position also serves as the after‑hours call center for all campus maintenance issues and provides emergency dispatch of personnel.
