Responsibilities

  • Monitors the campus Building Automation System (BAS) for proper operation of building mechanical systems and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Analyses computer generated and phoned‑in facility related problems, prioritizes and coordinates proper responses.
  • Handles normal and emergency phone calls as the after‑hours call center.
  • Dispatches technicians as needed.
  • On occasion will need to be able to respond to crisis situations.
  • Creates accurate and informative work orders.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise, and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met.
  • Works in a professional manner.
  • Communicates effectively with customers to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Run reports and maintain historical logs.
  • Performs work independently from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established operating procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes operating difficulties with building systems using troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify equipment related issues.
  • Monitors the campus Fire Prevention System for maintenance‑related alarms.

  • More than three years experience of the required qualifications.
  • Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting.

  • Experience in a Call Center environment.
  • Experience with computerized service request systems.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the various University communities served.

Salary

Salary Range $46,062 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Environmental Demands: May work around standard office conditions.
  • Physical Tasks: Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Lifting and moving.
  • Additional Working Conditions: This position and associated job duties have been designated as essential during extraordinary and emergency situations when the university is closed. Essential personnel must maintain contact with their supervisor and report to work as regularly scheduled unless directed otherwise.
  • Required to operate an electronic device such as an iPhone, iPad, or laptop/desktop computer to perform and fulfill time reporting and work management requirements.
  • Work management requirements include receiving work assignments, updating work orders, and other functions as required.
  • May be required to work in confined spaces, manholes, tunnels, elevated work, extended shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Considerable walking, standing, squatting, stooping, and moving of heavy materials and equipment in all weather conditions.
  • May be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing duties.
  • May be required to pass a physical examination.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, high dust and allergen levels.
  • May be required to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Often required to twist, grasp, push, pull and bend.
  • May be required to operate forklifts, personnel lifts and cranes.
  • Operate job related equipment.
  • May be required to perform elevated work.
  • Occasional work from ladders and/or scaffolds.
  • May require tuberculosis screening and occasional use of a respirator.
  • May drive University vehicles. If driving University vehicles, must maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University‑Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
