Purpose
Provide journey‑level technical analysis work for Building Automation Systems. Monitor, modify, and repair BAS systems, ensuring proper operation and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the functionality of multi‑vendor networked BAS systems for proper operation and reporting. Build and edit graphics pages and links to field points using Microsoft Office applications for reporting, e‑mail, analysis, presentation, and graphing.
- Review control algorithms and programs for functionality and suitability based on engineering sequences and operating requirements. Implement program changes and verify proper operation, identifying flaws or errors in building automation programs and providing solutions.
- Evaluate programming methods and implement changes to reduce energy consumption. Work with Energy Management Optimization (EMO) engineers to implement optimized sequences.
- Review HVAC designs, inspect installations, and assist in commissioning and retro‑commissioning of new and existing BAS systems. Provide consultation and analysis to support staff and project engineering staff. Read and interpret mechanical and related drawings and diagrams. Review new building control systems for conformance to university standards.
- Coordinate with campus intranet LAN systems departments to maintain and troubleshoot multi‑vendor networked BAS system connections and communications.
- Maintain and troubleshoot computer workstations, displays, UPSs, servers, equipment racks, and KVMs; coordinate with vendors and departments for updates, repairs, replacements, and warranty service.
- Retrieve historical data from BAS systems and data loggers; generate reports, charts, and spreadsheets for analysis and review with support staff and project engineering staff.
- Coordinate with building operators, HVAC shop, vendors, and other facilities personnel as necessary; respond to after‑hours trouble calls for resolution via on‑site or remote to ensure emergencies are addressed correctly.
- Perform other related functions as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with normal trade practices and is inspected for conformity to standards, quality and quantity by journey‑level employees or supervisors. Attend staff meetings, safety training, and meetings. May drive University vehicles; if driving, maintain an acceptable driver rating as established in policy UTS157 Section 2.5.4.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED.
- Five (5) years of journey‑level experience in the installation, repair, maintenance, and operation of HVAC building automation controls, refrigeration control, plumbing control, or related systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field.
- Ten (10) years of journey‑level experience with building automation systems.
- Familiarity with Siemens Desigo, Andover Continuum, Johnson Controls Metasys, and Schneider EcoStruxure platforms.
- Hands‑on experience with BAS hardware installation and troubleshooting.
Salary
USD 67,756 + depending on qualifications.
