Job summary

Harris invites students to join the Building Automation Internship for Summer 2027 in Sioux Falls, SD. You will gain practical HVAC controls experience on active construction projects and learn site safety policies under the guidance of Harris Systems Specialists.

You will translate classroom concepts into real-world applications, explore related career opportunities, and gain exposure to multiple departments across Harris.

• Must be a current student pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction or related field.
• Strong problem solving and collaborative skills required.

Note: This internship is for the Summer 2027. Your role as a Building Automation Intern will gain on the job experience and knowledge of the construction process. Get a realistic job preview of the Building Automation Systems Specialist role, and explore other career opportunities within the Building Automation team. Gain hands‑on experience in HVAC Controls working alongside our Building Automation Systems Specialists on construction project sites. Learn site‑specific safety policies and procedures. Get exposure to other departments and learn how your role impacts the business as a whole. Translate concepts learned in the classroom to real‑world experiences.

What we are looking for in you:

Must be a current student working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction or related degree. Interested in pursuing a career in the mechanical contracting / HVAC industry. Basic understanding of mechanical systems; what they do and how they operate. Strong problem solving and collaborative skills required.

Pay Range: $16.51 - $24.77

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
