Job summary

Carrier is seeking an engineering intern in the United States, with the Harrisburg area likely within scope, to support startup, commissioning and commissioning-related activities on customer systems. The role emphasizes hands-on work across pneumatic, electrical and electronic technologies.

Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with a 3.0+ GPA, and eligible to work in the US without sponsorship. Travel more than half the week is required; a driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field with GPA 3.0+ or higher.
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of a typical work week.
• Basic understanding of control logic; HVAC/building automation knowledge is preferred.
• Capable of climbing ladders or using lift equipment and able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commissioning and re-commission of customer systems using pneumatic, electrical, or electronic technology.
• Assist in maintaining accurate As-Built drawing packages and updating in Visio, Excel, and Word as required.
• Assist during calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment (multimeters, network terminals, etc.).
• Assist in static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building) commissioning of software programming.
• Assist in set-up of operator workstations with all associated software.
• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised.
• Assist with turnover to service and track progress; keep lead project personnel informed on progress.
• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues.
• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming
• Assist in the set-up of operator workstations with all associated software
• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised
• Assist with turnover to service
• Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress
• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues
• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site

Basic Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by our company’s insurance carrier
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldom overnight hotel stay

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of control logic
• Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred.
• Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs
• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
