Cincinnati, OH | Office & Local Project Site-Based
Comfort Systems USA Ohio is seeking a Building Automation Controls Engineer to support commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, DDC programming, system integration, and commissioning projects throughout the Cincinnati region.
This role is focused on commercial building automation and HVAC control systems and is not a manufacturing, robotics, or PLC-focused position.
You'll work on a variety of commercial projects involving BAS programming, system integration, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization. Experience with Tridium Niagara or similar commercial BAS platforms is highly desirable.
This position is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Regular work from our Cincinnati office and local project sites is required. Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
What You'll Do
- Design and support BAS architectures, control strategies, network layouts, and system configurations
- Develop and program HVAC control sequences for commercial building automation systems
- Configure BAS/DDC systems, graphics, alarms, trends, schedules, and integrations
- Perform startup, commissioning, testing, and functional validation of building automation systems
- Troubleshoot programming, communication, integration, and system performance issues
- Integrate BAS platforms with HVAC equipment and third-party building systems
- Work with BACnet, Modbus, and other industry-standard protocols
- Support HVAC equipment such as AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, and central plants
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, contractors, and customers throughout project execution
- Maintain accurate documentation, system backups, programming records, and as-built information
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial BAS, DDC, or HVAC controls experience
- Experience programming, configuring, commissioning, or troubleshooting BAS control systems
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC equipment and control strategies
- Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or similar communication protocols
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and technical documentation
- Experience troubleshooting controllers, integrations, networks, and HVAC equipment
- Ability to travel locally within the Cincinnati area as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Tridium Niagara AX or Niagara N4
- Experience with platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Automated Logic, Distech, or similar systems
- Experience developing graphics, trends, alarms, schedules, and integrations
- Experience with central plant controls, chilled water systems, boiler plants, or complex HVAC sequences
- Experience independently supporting projects through programming, startup, commissioning, and closeout
- $85,000-$115,000 annual salary, based on experience
