Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Controls Engineer in Cincinnati, OH to lead BAS/DDC design, programming, and commissioning for HVAC projects. You will translate concepts into tangible control strategies and work with field teams to ensure smooth startup and operation.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years in building automation or HVAC controls, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and hands-on experience with Niagara, EcoStruxure, AutoCAD/Visio, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years in building automation or HVAC controls.
• Experience with BAS/DDC system design and implementation.
• Strong HVAC knowledge (RTUs, VAVs, AHUs).

Responsibilities

• Design BAS/DDC systems, including sequences of operation and architecture.
• Develop control drawings, wiring diagrams, and submittals.
• Program controllers and graphics (Niagara, EcoStruxure, or similar).
• Support or lead startup, commissioning, and system validation.
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
• Provide technical guidance to field teams.
• Maintain accurate project documentation.

Controls Engineer

Pay

$80K–$110K (Based on Experience)

Cincinnati, OH Region

Role Overview

The Controls Engineer will lead the design, programming, and implementation of Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC) for HVAC applications from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Design BAS/DDC systems, including sequences of operation and architecture
• Develop control drawings, wiring diagrams, and submittals
• Program controllers and graphics (Niagara, EcoStruxure, or similar)
• Support or lead startup, commissioning, and system validation
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance
• Provide technical guidance to field teams
• Maintain accurate project documentation
