Job summary

Tyson Foods is hiring for Refrigeration Maintenance to support our facility operations in the United States. You will maintain refrigeration equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems while ensuring safety and uptime.

The role requires basic computer skills, willingness to work overtime and weekends, and the ability to operate in temperatures ranging from -25 to 100 degrees.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months mechanic work experience or refrigeration experience.
• PSM experience preferred.
• Refrigeration experience preferred.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance support with moderate supervision to ensure the safe and effective operation of equipment and team.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance repairs on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment.
• Conduct emergency mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned production equipment.
• Effectively interact with all plant personnel to accomplish plant and individual goals.
• Minimize downtime due to equipment failure.

Education and Experience

• Must have minimum of 6 months of mechanic work experience or refrigeration experience in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program.
• PSM Experience is preferred.
• Refrigeration experience is preferred.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems with an in-depth knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and controls is preferred.

Applicants will be considered for Refrigeration Maintenance level openings. Leveling is determined during the interview process based on skillset, knowledge, and experience. Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Computer Skills

• Basic computer skills necessary for logging information, processing daily work orders, and completing required documentation.
• Ability to learn and utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Communication and Physical Skills

• Effective communication and basic math skills required.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to stand on a hard surface for up to 12 hours per day.
• Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend, and stoop.
• Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent overhead work.
• Temperatures inside the plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may also be needed.
• Basic math skills, including percentages, fractions, and measurements.
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends.
• Willing and able to furnish your own tools.
