Job summary

Miami University is seeking a Building and Grounds Assistant (Custodial/Janitorial) for the Custodial Group 15. This regular, hourly-position will perform a variety of cleaning tasks in university buildings, facilities and grounds, with a third shift from 10 PM to 6 AM Friday through Tuesday.

The role supports cleaning, carpet care, trash removal, and area maintenance across campus facilities. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED.

• May require driver's license and ability to pass a POPES physical after offer.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and mop rooms and hallways; dust and clean rooms; wash windows.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpets; may strip and wax floors; sanitize restrooms.
• Collect trash, debris, and litter; empty receptacles.
• Assist with safe indoor/outdoor surface maintenance and inclement weather tasks.
• Assist with events and transport of equipment and supplies.

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, stooping and use of motor skills that require firm grasping, fine manipulation, and pinching.. Occasional squatting, kneeling, crawling, and climbing. Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional overhead lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds. Minimal lifting and carrying/transporting materials weighing up to 70 pounds.Periodic assignment given which entail dealing with modestly unpleasant physical situations.
