Miami University in Oxford, OH seeks a Sr Building and Grounds Assistant to perform a variety of groundskeeping tasks, assist with event setup, and maintain campus facilities. Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm; hourly pay $16.90; regular full-time position with 40 hours weekly and benefit eligibility.

The role involves mowing, trimming, raking, and operating or assisting with lighting, sound systems, and moving equipment as needed, plus custodial duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED and one year of technical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, raking, removing shrubs and trees.
  • Assists in the set up and break down for events; arranges tables, chairs, and staging; moves technical equipment.
  • May set up and operate technical equipment including lighting and sounds system.
  • May operate moving equipment including forklift and high lift.
  • Picks up trash and/or litter from University buildings and/or grounds; empties trash receptacles.
  • Performs custodial or groundskeeping tasks which may include mowing, trimming, raking, removing shrubs and trees, sweeping, mopping, dusting, or vacuuming.

Job Description Summary

Primarily in groundskeeping services, performs a variety of technical tasks in care of campus grounds - to include mowing, trimming, raking, removing shrubs and trees. May perform custodial and technical tasks related to setting up for events and maintaining the University's buildings, facilities, and grounds in a clean, neat, and safe manner. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Essential Duties
  • Performs groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, raking, removing shrubs and trees.
  • Assists in the set up and break down for events; arranges tables, chairs, and staging; moves technical equipment.
