Builders Mutual Insurance Company seeks an experienced Underwriting Manager, Builders Risk, to lead underwriting operations and drive disciplined risk selection. You will collaborate across product, sales, risk management, claims, actuarial, and underwriting operations to deliver profitable growth and outstanding customer outcomes.

The role supports hybrid work with Raleigh office interaction and remote collaboration within the footprint, including traveling for events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 5–7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance coverage, pricing, risk selection, and underwriting guidelines.
• Prior leadership or team lead experience with developing underwriting talent.

Responsibilities

• Lead underwriting operations for an assigned business segment, portfolio, or team; set priorities and ensure execution.
• Drive profitable growth through disciplined risk selection, pricing, retention, and portfolio management.
• Monitor performance, loss trends, and service quality; implement improvement plans.
• Review and approve complex risks within delegated authority and escalate when needed.
• Recruit, coach, and retain a high-performing team and develop talent for succession.
