Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Build Reliability Engineer for Starship Valves and Components. You will own reliability of flight hardware from design to production, working across fabrication methods, tooling, inspection, data gathering, and cross-functional collaboration on site.

Role involves building new processes, root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvements on the factory floor, labs, and in the office to enable ambitious Starship goals.

Qualifications

• 1+ years manufacturing/quality/design engineering experience (internship or student project qualifies).
• Experience with aerospace components or structures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing, integration, assembly, welding, NDE, cleanliness, and checkout processes.
• Identify reliability gaps and implement solutions to improve reliability without slowing build rate.
• Create quality plans for flight hardware including key characteristics and inspection planning.
• Monitor product/process performance during ramp-up using quality tools.
• Conduct regular build quality reviews to reduce risk and improve manufacturability.
• Investigate production/test failures to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Design and implement tooling for testing, fixturing, lifting, and rigging.
• Define inspection requirements and procedures.
• Contain non-conforming product and guide quarantine and rework across sites.
