Job summary

Meskwaki Nation is seeking a Buffet Dishwasher to support the Tama, IA kitchen operations. Full-time, non-safety sensitive role with shift differential and comprehensive benefits.

You will clean dinnerware and kitchen wares, prep areas, and assist dishwashing tasks while adhering to health and safety standards. The role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50-75 pounds, and work a flexible schedule.

Job Summary

Cleans dinnerware, food preparation wares and equipment and kitchen area in a manner that meets established cleanliness standards.

  • Clear bus tubs by sorting, scraping food from plates and pans into waste containers and stacking plates, pans etc. as directed to run through the dish machine.
  • Rack up and spray off wares before putting them through the dish machine. Presoak, wash and sort silverware properly.
  • Makes sure all dinner and kitchen wares are thoroughly cleaned. Distribute clean dishes, silverware, glasses, pans and other kitchen wares to the proper storage areas.
  • Clean pots and pans in designated three sinks (A) soapy water, (B) rinse, (C) sanitizer.
  • Sweep rubbish up and put into waste containers and then scrub floors as directed by supervisor using wet floor signs. Leave dish room clean and orderly for next shift.
  • De-lime the dish machine after each shift.
  • Assume responsibility for proper use of all cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Inform sous chef of wares shortages identified through performance of duties.
  • Assist other dishwashers as needed to complete tasks.
  • Communicates and networks effectively with staff, other departments, and outside representatives in order to maintain a productive and effective department operation.
  • Safeguard and account for the assets of the owners.
  • Comply with policies and procedures required by the department, the company, the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission, and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
  • Monitor the casino environment and follow established safety procedures to provide for the safety of guests and co-workers.
  • Work respectfully and effectively as part of the company team to ensure guest satisfaction, asset protection, and co-worker respect.
  • Comply with all departmental safety regulations, using safety equipment as required.
  • Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.

Supplemental Job Duties

  • Assume responsibility for all information included in kitchen's Memo Book
  • Take out the garbage as necessary. Help with taking dirty aprons and towels to outdoor storage containers.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

May be exposed to loud and continual noise levels and extreme variations in room temperatures. Substantial lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds with occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds will be required. Will be required to lift trays full of table service and racks of cups and glassware over the shoulder height. Must be able to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time. Requires frequent bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, balancing, and pushing or pulling equipment. This position will be exposed to cleaning chemicals. Must wear tread safety shoes. This position is prohibited from wearing jewelry (rings, earrings, watches, and etc.).

Minimum Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Work Experiences: Entry-level position. Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission.

Skills/Abilities: Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with other members of the staff. Must be able to read and understand written policies, procedures, labels, etc. Must be flexible with shift and days off. Must be able to handle busy and stressful situations. Must be able to meet all non-supervisory training and education requirements.

Members of the Meskwaki Nation and other Native American Tribes who are qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will be given preference in accordance to established procedures.

Restrictions

This position is PROHIBITED from playing all casino games while on duty, except as authorized for employee tournaments. Otherwise, this position may play any casino game while off duty. Employees and members of the household are prohibited from entering company contests and giveaways established for our guests.
