Job summary

The City of Seattle’s Seattle Center is seeking a Budget Manager for a 6-month assignment. The role provides fiscal oversight of operating and capital budgets and oversees revenue and expense forecasting.

Open to internal and external candidates, this position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration and offers hybrid work arrangements with a focus on budgeting excellence and strategic cost management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of budgeting, with experience in complex financial prep and analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or similar field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking; ability to analyze large data sets and present results.
• Advanced MS Excel and MS Word skills.
• Experience with Questica or similar budget software.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural workplace.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor a large operating and capital budget.
• Perform complex fiscal and policy analysis.
• Develop budgeting policies and recommendations.
• Lead year-end close activities and ensure compliance.
• Forecast department revenue and expenditures.
• Research grant funds usage and compliance.
• Develop and implement a budget development work plan.
• Operate budgeting software and query data.
• Collaborate with accounting data to develop reports.
• Lead, coach, and develop team members.
