Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a Budget and Fiscal Administrator to assist in developing and controlling the institution's budget. You will manage order, receiving, and distribution of supplies and equipment and handle requisitions, purchase orders, inmate payroll, and expenditures.

Four weeks of SCDC Basic Training are required upon hire and a high school diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for related experience. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must have basic budgeting and accounting knowledge.
• Experience with payroll and fiscal transactions preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of and control of institution's budget.
• Responsible for order, receiving and distributing supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for fiscal activities including requisitions, purchase orders, inmate payroll, budget preparation, and expenditures.
• Responsible for petty cash.
• Supervise the mailroom to include serving as backup.
• Ensure proper audits are conducted of monies in special funds, meal ticket and postage accounts.
• Responsible for maintenance and inmate telephones.
