The role

The Budget Controller supports key financial processes across the Finance team. This role ensures timely and accurate execution of controlling activities, Purchase Request approvals, administrative tasks, and coordination with IT systems.

The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, reconciliation and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently within established processes while collaborating with finance team members and cross-functional stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

Controlling Activities

  • Monitor spending against budgets for assigned areas, escalating discrepancies when needed.
  • Support Finance team in reconciliations and problem solving to drive an efficient and effective closing and planning cycles
  • Ability to apply problem solving independently and collaborate efficiently with other stakeholders
  • Assist in preparing cost tracking reports and variance checks.

Purchase Request (PR) Approvals

  • Review PRs from business functions to ensure budget availability, completeness, and compliance with internal guidelines.
  • In cooperation with Finance Business Partners, prepare detailed reports on the functions’ budgets for PR approval processes.
  • Route PRs for internal approvals and track status to ensure timely processing.
  • Work with Finance Ops/Operations/Procurement to support a smooth purchase-to-pay workflow.
  • Ability to apply problem solving independently and collaborate efficiently with other PR requestors and stakeholders.

Finance Systems Support

  • Support Finance team users with system access, simple troubleshooting, and coordination with IT.
  • Maintain finance-related Finance system configurations (e.g., cost center mappings, approval workflows) under guidance.
  • Assist in testing improvements, new features, or finance-system changes.
  • Keep documentation updated for finance process steps involving system tools.
  • Ability to apply problem solving independently and collaborate efficiently with other IT employees and relevant stakeholders

Other Support Activities

  • Assist FP&A and Controlling teams in collecting data for budgeting or reporting cycles.
  • Conduct various types of analysis
  • Provide support during audits by preparing requested documentation.
  • Contribute to improving controlling processes.
We expect you to have:
  • 4–7+ years of experience in budget controlling, accounting support, controlling support, or similar roles.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently within established processes.
  • Basic understanding of financial processes (budgeting, invoices, PRs, cost tracking).
  • Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets and comfortable with Finance systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with internal stakeholders.
It will be an added bonus if you have:
  • Experience with finance systems (ERP, procurement tools, PR/PO systems).
  • Familiarity with purchase request and approval processes.
  • Experience in an international or multi-entity environment.
  • Basic accounting or finance education/background.
