Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Budget Analyst II to assist in preparing operating budgets and to develop, analyze, and present timely data for fiscal planning and resource allocation. The role supports Huntsman Cancer Institute and related departments in using data to guide budget decisions.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Budget and Resource Planning, applying statistical methods, and producing reports that inform annual budgets and database maintenance.

Qualifications

• Equivalency statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Budget Analyst II: bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
• Experience in higher education financial areas is preferred.

• Utilizes statistical methods and computerized models to organize and analyze issues and information.
• Collects and analyzes data and evaluates alternatives; prepares and distributes reports on research results for review.
• Prepares statistical/ financial studies and cost/ income forecasts used for budget decisions.
• Assists in the preparation and analysis of the department's annual operating budget.
• Assists in the maintenance of the budget system and budget database.

Minimum Qualifications

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Budget Analyst, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences

• A familiarity with maintaining and updating computerized databases and experience in higher education financial areas is preferred.
