City of New York’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) seeks a Budget Analyst for the LEAF Unit to support 13 agencies and roughly $1.2B in annual operating budgets. The role blends analytical work with policy insight, requiring strong Excel skills and cross-agency collaboration.

The position is hybrid, based at OMB offices in NYC, with responsibilities spanning budget formulation, financial planning, and performance monitoring for the Law, Elected Officials, Administration, and Finance unit.

Qualifications

• Public sector budgeting or financial analysis experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.

Responsabilités

• Prepare annual expense budgets and four-year financial plans for the units overseen.
• Review agency submissions related to savings, operations, and new projects.
• Develop options and recommendations to reduce departmental budgets.
• Prepare and maintain budgetary controls and monitor expenditures/revenues.
• Monitor contracts and agency projects for compliance and performance.
• Use Excel to analyze large data sets and present findings clearly.
