Job summary

The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a Budget Analyst within Budget and Payroll Services. Under general supervision, you will prepare and analyze budgets, monitor program performance, and assist staff.

The role may train others and requires adherence to GAAP and university policies. Responsibilities include compiling data for Legislative Appropriations requests, developing accounting controls, analyzing expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and providing ad hoc reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three years related experience; knowledge of finance, accounting or related fields and discipline.
  • Moderate level of competency with Microsoft spreadsheets, database retrieval and reports.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a team oriented environment and be a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex budget preparation and analysis work under general supervision.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze budgets and performance measures; monitor budgets and program performance.
  • May train others; assist in gathering, recording, and analysis of data to support requests.
  • Complies and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to the general ledger.
