Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Budget Analyst I for the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES). The role supports the Budget, Policy, and Gaming Compliance team with in-office, full-time work and a salary up to $60,000 depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities include reviewing agency budgets for compliance, posting budget revisions, tracking legislation, and generating reports for the Governor’s Executive Budget Book, with opportunities to train peers and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; or 3–5 years of state finance experience.
• Preference for a relevant degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, or public administration.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and assess agency budget work programs for constitutional and statutory compliance, technical accuracy, and agency budget explanations.
• Analyzes, approves, and posts agency budgets and budget revisions in the state system of record, establishing expenditure limits.
• Tracks, monitors, and analyzes legislation to identify critical fiscal and policy implications for assigned agencies
• Consolidates, analyzes, and reports agency budget requests.
• Creates agency reports for inclusion in the Governor’s Executive Budget Book.
• Facilitates and responds to executive, public, and legislative information requests.
• Identifies quality proposals for improving the cost-efficiency or cost-effectiveness of state programs.
• Assists with training peers and agency financial staff.

Job Description

As a Budget Analyst I with OMES you will enjoy:

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
• Some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; or
• 3-5 years of state finance experience

Preference will be given to candidates who possess

• A relevant degree in business, economics, accounting, finance, or public administration
