Job summary

FloridaCommerce in Tallahassee, FL is seeking a Budget Analyst C-SES to support budget activities across programs. You will assist in budget planning, monitor expenditures, review action documents, and prepare monthly financial reports throughout the fiscal year.

The role requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical ability, and effective communication. This is a full-time exempt position with State benefits and local collaboration across agencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of the methods of reviewing and analyzing financial data.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics
• Ability to develop and recommend budgetary revisions.
• Ability to review, analyze and evaluate financial data.
• Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to conduct detailed analysis and management critiques of budget requests.
• Ability to assist in the preparation and examination of legislative budgets.
• Ability to conduct financial management analysis.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief of Budget Management in managing assigned program’s budget and allotments through a variety of actions throughout the fiscal year.
• Review and approve (or disapprove) documents presented to Budget Management. Examples include MFMP requisitions, Personnel Action Forms, contract documents and FCO invoices.
• Assist in development of an Approved Operating Budget for assigned Budget Entity. This includes gathering estimates and requests, communicating changes, and providing feedback.
• Monitor and analyze budget activity throughout the year for assigned budget entities to ensure compliance and prepare external budget amendments.
• Prepare monthly budget/expenditure financial reports and Rate reports for assigned budget entities and projects.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses as requested.
• Participate in LRPP and LBR preparation.
• Prepare Schedule I for assigned trust funds and data entry into LASPBS.
