Job summary

Republic Services in Auburn, Alabama, is seeking a BU Safety Manager to support multiple BUs with loss prevention programs, safety objectives, and training. You will promote proactive safety culture, ensure OSHA and DOT compliance, and work with HR to minimize time away from work due to injuries while guiding incident investigations and safety meetings.

This role requires strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to influence leadership and frontline teams across divisions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Professional safety certification or college degree in Safety Management preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a safety professional.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and related safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and implements safety training programs across BUs to drive proactive safety behaviors.
• Ensures loss prevention programs comply with OSHA, DOT, and state regulations.
• Monitors program implementation, redirects activities to meet targets.
• Maintains regulatory recordkeeping and supports investigations of incidents.
• Assists in return-to-work and modified duties processes with HR and management.
• Participates in OSHA/DOT inspections and safety audits.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
