Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Director of BSW Field Educationto provide leadership and direction for the clinical fieldeducation component of the Bachelor of Social Work program. Thisrole offers an opportunity to shape meaningful field educationexperiences by developing and maintaining partnerships with agencyfield sites, supporting students as they apply professional socialwork knowledge and skills, and ensuring Field Practicum and Seminarcourses align with CSWE educational standards and the evolvingneeds of the BSW program. The Director will also teach FieldPracticum and Seminar courses, providing hands-on mentorship thathelps students develop the ability to practice social workintentionally, ethically, and with integrity. As the BSW programcontinues to grow, this position will play an important role inmanaging field education each semester and strengthening theconnection between classroom learning and professional social workpractice.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Provides oversight and direction to the Bachelor of Social Workfield education program. Consults on field placement and studentrelated problems, concerns, and grievances and ensures appropriateresolution. Monitors the implementation of field education policiesand procedures in the BSW Program in accordance with the Council onSocial Work Education's (CSWE) Educational Policy and AccreditationStandards (EPAS) related to field education. Ensures that fieldeducation in the BSW Program adheres to certification and licensurerequirements for Social Services Workers (SSWs) who will bepracticing in Utah. Promotes, strengthens, and maintains strongworking relationships with the professional community at practicumsites as well as the larger community.
• Evaluate, regulate, and supervise field setting and fieldinstructor effectiveness through field site visits to ensurecompliance with CSWE accreditation requirements. Acts as a liaisonbetween social work practitioners in the community and the BSWprogram director including assessing trends in social work practicewithin the community to recommend curriculum changes. Teaches Fieldand Seminar courses.
• Assess and ensure students attain proficiency in CSWEprescribed competencies across all systems levels (individual,family groups, organizations, and communities) through observation,student reflections and assignments, interviews, and surveys ofstudents and field instructors.
• Manage documentation of compliance with all UVU and BSW programpolicies including internship agreement (in coordination with UVUContracts officer), Agency Accreditation Compliance Agreement, Student Practicum Application, Field Placement Agreement, Timesheets, and Supervision documentation.
• Plans, coordinates, and executes BSW field education trainingsfor students and field instructors, as well as BSW field placementevents and Field Instructor trainings and conferences. Departmentmeetings, working with BSW program director and overall BSW programfaculty & staff, serving as part of the BSW admissions reviewcommittee, working with BSW director to update and maintainnecessary documentation, assessment for CSWE accreditation andother job-related duties as assigned.
• Supervises BSW Associate Field Director in all areas of FieldEducation including alignment with CSWE EPAS, facilitating sitevisits, student consultation, setting schedules, determininginternal and external operating procedures, gathering assessmentdata, continuous improvement, and organizing agency and studentdata. Delegates duties as needed to Associate Field Director. Completes goal-setting and evaluations of Associate FieldDirector.

• Master of Social Work from CSWE accredited program plus twoyears of experience directly related to the summary ofduties.

• Experience supervising students in an agencysetting.
