Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide direct, age-specific patient care from admission to discharge in an acute care setting. The nurse will assess patients, develop and implement plans of care, and collaborate with the health care team to achieve outcomes.

The role requires a BSN, IL RN license, and BLS, with ER-specific ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC certifications to be obtained within the first year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Analytical abilities; evidence-based practice.
• ADN acceptable with commitment to BSN within three years.
• ER-specific requirements: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status at admission and care entry.
• Organize health data for accurate plan of care.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention.
• Collaborate with patient/family and care team to plan outcomes.
• Document diagnoses, plans, and patient responses.
• Initiate discharge planning at admission and update as needed.
• Provide patient education based on evidence-based practice.
• Participate in conferences and referrals for continuity of care.
