Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company is seeking a Line Brushmaking Operator in the Purdy paintbrush manufacturing team in Maryland. The role involves making quality knots for professional brushes and handling multiple steps from inspection to assembly on a conveyor system.

Schedule: 2nd Shift 1:00pm - 9:00pm with a $1.00/hour shift differential. Eligible for bonus and comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSAs, disability, retirement, and generous paid time away.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating machinery in manufacturing preferred.
• Experience monitoring the quality of raw materials or finished goods preferred.
• Fine manipulation tasks experience (e.g., sewing, precision handling) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check route sheet for brush specifications.
• Inspect brushes for quality, gauge and straighten as needed.
• Place combed brushes in tray or on conveyor.
• Notify setup operator of quality inconsistencies.
• Meet productivity targets and aim for zero defects.
• Use scanner to track on/off orders.
• Gather ferrules, plugs, inserts, labels and related materials.
• Set up power chisel with correct bar and clamp.
• Remove brush heads from conveyor and process them.
• Tighten and split filament as required, ensure proper butt end.
• Apply wooden plugs when needed and reseat brushes.
• Apply ferrule, pull down components, and clamp as directed.
• Inspect completed brush heads and place on conveyor for finish.
