Job summary

CJ Schwan’s in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Materials Planner to ensure timely availability of ingredients and packaging. You will plan, schedule, and track inbound materials, manage purchase orders, and collaborate with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to drive efficiency.

The role requires a degree or equivalent experience, SAP proficiency, and strong analytical and supplier-management skills. Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or 3 years of experience in material planning, purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related function in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, and materials planning principles.
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Additional language skills (Mandarin or Cantonese) are a plus.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with data interpretation.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication across all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Plan and procure ingredients and packaging materials based on production schedules and forecasts.
• Create and manage purchase orders and collaborate with Accounts Payable for supplier payments.
• Maintain supplier relationships and address service, delivery, and quality issues.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage aging/obsolete materials.
• Analyze demand, inventory, and supply trends to adjust orders.
• Coordinate inbound material deliveries with transportation and warehouse teams.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Accounting to resolve material quality concerns.
