Job summary

Gersh Autism Academy in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a full-time Intervention Specialist to support behavioral, emotional, and academic needs of students in a year-round program. You will observe, assess, document, and manage crises with a compassionate, collaborative approach.

The role requires proficiency in writing and organization, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with crisis intervention. The schedule runs 8:00AM-3:30PM, with occasional meetings until 4PM.

Qualifications

• Must possess excellent writing and organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is preferred.
• Previous experience with crisis intervention with school-age students is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Observe, manage, evaluate, and document student behavioral issues and crises.
• Assess and maintain a safe environment during interventions.
• Ensure care, welfare, safety, and security throughout interventions.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to discuss proactive strategies for managing behaviors.
• Collect and review intervention data and attend team meetings.
