Position Purpose
Brooklyn Elementary School Building Substitute
This position will be full time work and assignments will be based on needs as determined by building administration.
Essential Functions
- Uphold administrative regulations, school rules and policies as determined by state and local boards of education and negotiated agreements
- Maintain building expectations and offer high quality instruction in the absence of the classroom teachers
- Assignments will vary daily and will include any and all building duties such as bus, recess and lunch duty
- Report to classroom teachers what assignments were completed and the behavior of students in the absence of the teachers
- Follow the professional code of conduct for all teachers as well as the expectations for Brooklyn Employees
Additional Duties
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Knowledge of General and Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action/behavior plans
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Pay: $150/day for all days worked
Hours: 8:30-3:45
Must maintain 95% attendance
Qualifications
Must hold teacher certification or be a retired Brooklyn Public School Teacher
