Job summary

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is seeking an Assistant Zoological Park Maintainer to join the Bronx Zoo maintenance team. The role focuses on maintaining grounds, facilities, and equipment to ensure safety for visitors, staff, animals, and the facility.

Under supervision, you will perform grounds upkeep, operate light equipment, assist in building tasks, and support storm response and routine cleaning across 265 acres of the Bronx Zoo. Availability for weekends and overtime is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience using hand tools and small engine or battery powered equipment preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds including roads, paths, exhibits and animal holding areas.
• Operate light equipment such as mowers, leaf blowers, and small engines.
• Assist in building tasks and move furniture as needed.
• Support storm cleanup and post-storm recovery.
• Perform garbage and trash maintenance and perimeter cleanup.
• Work Saturdays, Sundays and all holidays; overtime as required.
