Job summary

The Office of the Bronx Borough President seeks a City Planner — Housing Specialist to address Bronx housing issues within a broad planning portfolio. You will advance housing strategies, analyze land use proposals, and collaborate with residents, developers, and agencies to promote equitable, sustainable growth for the borough.

You will work under the Director of Planning & Development, ensuring housing considerations informULURP reviews and neighborhood plans while engaging communities through

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience in journalism or communications; orEducation/experience equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Housing Policy, Strategy, and Advocacy: advise on housing strategies and affordability, track affordability trends and programs, attend evening housing meetings as needed.
• Land Use and Neighborhood Planning: review land use apps, environmental reviews, and ULURP recommendations with housing implications; conduct neighborhood studies.
• Community Engagement and Partnership: engage with community boards, officials, nonprofits, and residents; build relationships with tenant groups and agencies; present insights to leadership and public audiences.
• Research, Analysis, and Communication: analyze demographic/economic data; produce accessible materials for residents; use mapping tools.
• Project Management and Team Contribution: manage complex projects, coordinate with agencies, monitor timelines, work independently or in teams, uphold equity and sustainability.

Education

Baccalaureate degree + 4 years experience in journalism/communications
