Job summary

The Bronx Office of the Borough President is seeking a City Planner – Transportation Specialist to shape mobility and land-use for 1.5 million residents. You will lead transportation policy, equity‑focused planning, and cross‑agency coordination to advance safer streets and better transit options.

Working under the Director of Planning & Development, you will analyze projects, engage communities, attend meetings, and translate complex data into actionable community‑friendly information,

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and four years of full-time journalism/communications experience, with 18 months in a supervisory/managerial role.
• Equivalency: education/experience as described above, with 18 months of supervisory/managerial capacity.

Responsibilities

• Transportation Policy, Strategy, and Advocacy: Provide support on mobility strategies and manage safety, access, and corridor performance.
• Land Use and Neighborhood Planning: Review land use, environmental reviews, and planning proposals with transportation implications.
• Community Engagement and Partnership: Engage with community boards, officials, and residents to integrate feedback.
• Research, Analysis, and Communication: Analyze data and translate transportation and land-use information for residents.
• Project Management and Team Contribution: Manage complex projects and coordinate with multiple agencies while upholding equity and sustainability.
