Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (CHECW) seeks a Community Engagement Manager for the Community Engagement and Capacity Building unit to establish and maintain relationships with local organizations and community partners. Focused on reducing health inequities and improving health outcomes for underserved New Yorkers, particularly in the Bronx.

Qualifications

• Experience working in low-income communities desired; comfortable working in a community setting with diverse populations.
• Excellent skills in presentation and written and oral communication.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and timelines.
• Bilingual/Spanish speaking candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
• Experience working in applied public health programs.
• Experience working with community members and organizations.
• Proven track record of applying an equity lens to processes, planning and policies.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
• At least 1 year of program oversight experience, particularly related to chronic disease.
• Experience collaborating with community partners.
• Data collection, research and evaluation skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Community Engagement and Capacity Building to establish and maintain effective relationships with key local organizations and community partners to identify and address the health needs of underserved communities.
• Assist the Director of Community Engagement and Capacity Building to assess local partnerships and provide technical assistance for development and/or partnership enhancement.
• Manage and coordinate front desk navigation services and staffing.
• Represent the Agency at external meetings with community partners and support local coalitions, partnerships, and network building.
• Attend and deliver presentations and updates at internal and external community meetings and events.
