Job summary

Depot Connect International in Chalmette, LA seeks a Brokerage Manager to lead and scale our third-party brokerage operations, focusing on ISO tank movements, liquid bulk transport, intermodal drayage, and specialized freight. You will expand carrier networks, optimize margins, ensure compliance, and deliver top service across our regional and national network.

The role requires 5+ years in freight brokerage or 3PL with a leadership track, strong knowledge of FMCSA/HazMat rules, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration.
• 5+ years in freight brokerage or 3PL with 2+ years in leadership.
• Hands-on ISO tank/container or liquid bulk intermodal experience.
• Deep knowledge of FMCSA DOT HazMat rules and Gulf Coast port operations.
• Proficiency with TMS platforms, load boards, and CRM/analytics.

Responsibilities

• Identify and onboard third-party carriers including drayage and liquid bulk haulers.
• Oversee brokerage dispatch, routing, load tendering, tracking, and on-time delivery.
• Direct ISO tank/container moves and intermodal transfers coordinating with depots and ports.
• Manage P&L for Chalmette brokerage, drive volume and margin growth.
• Set competitive spot and contract pricing using market data and lane complexity.
• Collaborate with Commercial Sales to capture cross-selling across depot services.
• Enforce carrier qualification: insurance, safety ratings, hazmat certs, reliability.
• Ensure DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA compliance for liquid bulk and hazards.
• Establish carrier KPIs and conduct performance reviews for long-term partnerships.
• Recruit and train dispatchers, coordinators, and carrier sales as the division grows.
• Coordinate with Chalmette leadership to balance owned fleet and brokerage solutions.
• Leverage TMS and client portals to automate workflows and boost visibility.

Role Overview

Depot Connect International (DCI) is seeking an experienced, results-driven Brokerage Manager to lead and scale our third-party brokerage operations out of our Chalmette, LA hub. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Transportation, the Brokerage Manager will be responsible for building, managing, and expanding DCI's freight brokerage capabilities with a primary focus on ISO tank container movement, liquid bulk transportation, intermodal drayage, and specialized freight. This role requires a strategic transportation leader who can expand partner carrier networks, optimize gross margins, ensure strict regulatory and safety compliance, and deliver exceptional service across our regional and national network.

Position Responsibilities

• Identify, recruit, and onboard high-quality third-party motor carriers, drayage providers, and specialized liquid bulk haulers to support DCI's growing freight volume.


• Oversee daily brokerage dispatch, routing, load tendering, tracking, and trace operations to maintain high on-time delivery performance.


• Direct specialized moves involving ISO tank containers, chassis, and intermodal transfers, ensuring seamless coordination between DCI depots, port terminals, and end-customer sites.


• Manage the operational P&L for the Chalmette brokerage business, driving volume, revenue growth, and gross margin expansion.


• Establish competitive spot and contract pricing strategies based on market indices, carrier availability, and lane complexity.


• Partner with DCI's Commercial Sales and Account Management teams to capture cross-selling opportunities across DCI's depot, wash, and maintenance network.


• Enforce rigorous carrier qualification protocols, verifying insurance, safety ratings, hazmat certifications, and operational reliability.


• Maintain full adherence to DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations governing the transport of liquid bulk and hazardous materials.


• Establish carrier KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews to build long-term, strategic partner carrier relationships.


• Recruit, train, and direct brokerage dispatchers, logistics coordinators, and carrier sales representatives as the division expands.


• Work closely with Chalmette depot leadership and regional transportation managers to optimize asset utilization and balance company-owned fleet capacity with third-party brokerage solutions.


• Leverage DCI's Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and customer portals to automate workflows and enhance visibility for external clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent industry experience.


• 5+ years of progressive freight brokerage or 3PL operations experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.


• Hands-on knowledge of ISO tank containers, chemical/liquid bulk transport, or specialized intermodal drayage.


• Deep familiarity with FMCSA rules, DOT hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations, and Gulf Coast port operations.


• Advanced proficiency with modern TMS platforms, load boards (DAT, Truckstop), Microsoft Excel, and CRM/analytics systems.


• Proven carrier-sourcing relationships within the Gulf Coast logistics corridor (New Orleans, Houston, Baton Rouge).


• Demonstrated track record of scaling a brokerage desk or 3PL unit with proven P&L growth.


• Strong negotiation, contract management, and financial analytical skills.


• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills in fast-paced operational environments.
