Job summary

Selective Insurance seeks a Production Underwriter for the MUSIC segment to work with Brokers, expand profitable accounts, and underwrite within the MUSIC appetite. You will collaborate across underwriting and business teams to align pricing, risk selection, and growth strategies.

The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, plus the ability to travel within the territory and operate from a remote location when needed.

Responsibilities

• Display business segment technical expertise to grow and support an underwriting framework that produces profitable business. Position works directly with Brokers and is a Production Underwriting role.
• Makes consistent underwriting decisions, adheres to company pricing philosophies and promotes ease of doing business with MUSIC.
• Develop strong relationships with key Brokers to achieve growth and profitability goals, including remote and in-person interactions.
• Create educational materials and training programs for staff and agents to promote profitable growth.
• Work with Marketing to create effective marketing materials and increase submissions.
• Attend conferences and sales meetings to promote MUSIC's products and services.
• Work with Product Development to enhance current Product offerings.
• Monitor results and identify trends; recommend strategies to improve performance.
• Create strategic plans by Broker/Territory/Line to achieve business goals.
• Monitor results and adjust tactics to grow the book profitably.
• Participate in underwriting quality control assessments.
• Must pass Underwriting Audits - Score of 80% or better.
• Must be able to drive and travel within territory (approx. 25%).
