Job summary

Gallagher is seeking an entry-level Underwriter in Charlotte, NC to assess property and casualty applications and apply guidelines to issue, modify, or decline risks. No experience is required beyond a Bachelor's degree, and you’ll develop strong analytical and communication skills in a supportive, learning-focused culture.

You will work with underwriting teams to understand procedures, gain exposure to top-rated carriers, and contribute to growth with a collaborative, inclusive mindset.

• Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites property and casualty applications following guidelines for standard or substandard coverage.
• Evaluates risk to decide whether to accept, modify, or decline based on value, location, usage and safety features.
• Maintains frequent contact with field teams to inform underwriting decisions and gather information.
• Collaborates with all underwriting teams to learn service processes and procedures.

How you'll make an impact

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
• Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions. Does not have any assigned Production or Service goals.
• Works with all underwriting teams to gain knowledge of service and operational process and procedures.

About You

Required: Bachelor's degree, no experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
