Job summary

Risk Placement Services, Inc. in Rolling Meadows, IL seeks an underwriting professional to assess property and casualty applications and apply guidelines for standard or substandard coverage. You will evaluate risk based on property value, location, usage, safety features, and related data.

You will work closely with field teams to gather information supporting underwriting decisions and may assist senior underwriters in account servicing and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites property and casualty insurance applications per guidelines.
• Evaluates risk by considering value, location, usage, safety features and other data.
• Maintains frequent contact with field to gather information for underwriting decisions.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• Underwrites individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
• Determines whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
• Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
• Does not have any assigned Production goals.
• May provide support to Underwriter Senior in servicing and management of accounts.

About You

Required: Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office. Behaviors: Detail oriented; strong analytical skills and good communication and interpersonal skills
