Job summary

Tyson Foods in Robards, KY seeks a field-based Technical Assistance Specialist to support producers caring for company poultry. You will advise on building specs, litter, sanitation, and manage flock health and equipment settings.

The role requires close collaboration with Hatchery, Feedmill and Livehaul teams, travel up to 5 times per year, and a commitment to biosecurity and USDA regulations. You will engage with producers to optimize flock performance while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years' experience in poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with active listening and adaptability.
• Basic computer skills (email, data entry, simple queries).

Responsibilities

• Advise producers on building and equipment specifications, litter management, and farm sanitation.

• Monitor feed consumption and assist with ordering as needed.
• Pull blood and fat samples as required.

• Adhere to USDA and other regulations on poultry handling.

Job Details

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to producers caring for the company's birds regarding the proper care and comfort.

• Advising producers on building and equipment specifications, litter manipulation, and farm sanitation.
• Visiting farms to document bird comfort, manage flock and equipment settings, monitor bird health, and provide remedy when possible.
• Monitoring feed consumption and ordering if necessary
• Pulling blood and fat samples as required
• Coordinating chick placements to farms
• Assisting with catch schedules
• Ensuring communication among Hatchery, Feedmill, and Livehaul departments regarding their contract farms.
• Ensuring compliance with the production contract to optimize flock quality and minimize costs.
• Ensuring adherence to all USDA and other government regulations regarding poultry handling.
• Working with the Broiler and Breeder Departments in coordinating weekly chick placements
• Performing other responsibilities as the need arises.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in an agricultural field or equivalent experience relevant to the position preferred.
• Experience: 1+ years' experience in a poultry or agriculture-related field preferred.
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to convey information clearly and effectively through both verbal and written means. Proficiency in active listening, ensuring mutual understanding, and adapting communication style to various audiences.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills such as checking electronic mail, entering data into document templates, or creating simple queries.
• Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year.
• Biosecurity : Must not own, possess, or otherwise maintain any domestic, wild or exotic fowl to be considered, required to sign a Bio-security agreement to avoid any non-commercial avian species examples: chickens, ducks, birds, parakeets, parrots, etc. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
