Job summary

Tyson Foods seeks a Cobb Three Springs Farm Brooder House Worker to care for poultry, feed and water birds, and monitor temperatures. The role follows a Monday–Friday schedule with rotating weekends and holidays, with hours from early morning.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour plus shift differentials for evenings, nights and weekends; benefits include health, dental, vision coverage and 401(k) options. Prior poultry/production experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no major employment gaps.
• Experience in agricultural or production settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Feeds and waters birds according to schedules.
• Monitors temperature and lights; adjust as instructed.
• Walks floors daily and inspects birds for illness; handles mortality per protocol.
• Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens; performs routine housekeeping.
• Records information such as line, bird weight, medications, feed/water intake, mortality.

Job Details: Cobb Three Springs Farm Brooder House Worker Schedule: Monday thru Friday and rotating weekend schedule, including holidays. Hours: 5:50am to 1:50pm Times may vary. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs

Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Requirements

Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months. Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days. Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Feeds and waters birds according to schedules. Monitors temperature, lights and adjusts as instructed. (30%)
• Walks floors daily; examines birds for signs of illness and treats according to instructions; picks up and disposes of mortality, loads mortality into incinerator. (20%)
• Places pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source (20%)
• Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens and performs routine housekeeping duties; repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc.) (10%)
• Records information according to instructions such as line, MG, bird weight, medications, feed & water intake, and mortality (10%)
• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitizes breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles; properly euthanizes selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements

The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Must use safe lifting techniques.
• Must regularly team lift up to 35 pounds to move items such as partitions, boxes of chicks, etc.
• Tools, such as shovel/pitchfork may be required to move feed or shavings.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 500 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
• Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.

Personal Protective Equipment

Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

Chemicals Commonly Used

Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, pesticides, etc.
