Job summary

Nexstar Media is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to support the daily operations of the Engineering Department and oversee maintenance of broadcast technology at the station and transmitter sites.

You will work with the Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and manage capital projects, coordinate fiber, A/V routing, audio and networking systems, and ensure compliance with FCC and other regulations. Strong organization and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Electronics, Communications, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred.
• Minimum three years' experience with a television broadcasting environment.
• IT/Networking background is preferred.
• Bitcentral familiarity with software/hardware is a plus.
• Fluent English with strong verbal and written communication.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and multitask.
• Willingness to work extended hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists in managing all aspects of the Engineering Department
• Maintains all broadcast technology and equipment for the station and transmitter sites
• Ensures station compliance with FCC, local, state, and federal rules and regulations
• Collaborates with Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and infrastructure
• Assists with managing engineering and technology capital projects within budgets
• Coordinates fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing, and patching, audio equipment, networking, graphics, and editing systems
• Evaluates, selects, installs, services and maintains station equipment and information technology systems
• Repairs and maintains station building infrastructures
• Assists in maintaining station vehicle fleet, including live satellite truck
• Communicates with and coordinates equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractors
• Performs other duties as assigned
