Job summary

Red Carrot in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Broadcast Engineer to support a high-visibility federal contract. The Broadcast Studio Engineer is responsible for setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all broadcast and studio equipment.

You will collaborate with the production team to ensure top-quality audio and video content, manage live broadcasts, and maintain equipment in optimal condition, including on-site visits and occasional remote shoots.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in a broadcast engineering role.
Proficiency with broadcast equipment, IP-based systems, network management, and automation software.
Knowledge of signal flow and patching audio/video connections.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work under pressure during live events.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and monitor broadcast equipment (cameras, lighting, audio consoles, video switchers).
Manage live broadcasts with seamless transitions between video sources, graphics, and audio.
Monitor and adjust audio levels and video signals during live/recorded productions.
Inspect, maintain, repair equipment; troubleshoot issues quickly during broadcasts.
Oversee graphics for monitors and kiosks; update content to align with broadcast requirements.
Conduct studio walkthroughs to ensure equipment health and safety.
Collaborate with producers, audio techs, and the production team to meet technical requirements.
Provide technical support during walk-throughs and live events.
Support offsite shoots with equipment transport and setup.
Oversee the broadcast studio network infrastructure for reliable connections.
Manage broadcast automation systems and ensure software is up to date.
Train staff and maintain technical documentation.
