Job summary

Red Carrot, Inc. seeks a Broadcast Engineer to support a federal contract, on-site at the Alexandria studio. You will set up, operate, and maintain all broadcast and studio equipment to ensure high-quality audio and video for live and recorded productions.

Collaborate with producers and technical staff, monitor live broadcasts, manage equipment inventory, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. The role requires hands-on experience with broadcast gear and proficiency in IP-based systems.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in a broadcast engineering role with hands-on live broadcast exposure.
  • Proficiency with broadcast equipment, IP-based systems, network management and automation software.
  • Knowledge of signal flow and patching audio/video connections.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure during live events.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor broadcast equipment including cameras, lighting, audio consoles, and video switchers.
  • Manage live broadcasts with seamless transitions between video sources, graphics, and audio feeds.
  • Monitor and adjust audio levels, video signals, and other technical aspects during live and recorded productions.
  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair equipment; keep an organized inventory.
  • Oversee graphic systems for monitors and kiosks and ensure content is current and aligned.
  • Conduct daily studio walkthroughs to ensure health and functionality of the studio.
  • Provide technical support during walk-throughs and live events; offer adjustments as needed.
  • Support offsite shoots with equipment setup and transport as required.
  • Manage broadcast studio network infrastructure for reliable connections.
  • Train staff and maintain technical documentation; stay updated on new broadcast tech.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports on equipment status and broadcast quality; ensure compliance.
