Job summary

KMBC 9 is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to maintain station equipment and provide IT support. You will handle production, news gathering, and IT infrastructure across transmitter and network systems.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, broad OS and networking knowledge, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering staff. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent troubleshooting with installation planning, design research, and detailed docs.
• Desktop and server OS knowledge required.
• LAN/WAN networking experience.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast/video production systems.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Flexible to varied shifts and days off.
• Valid driver’s license; travel to remote transmitter/microwave sites.
• Education or training in Electronic/IT tech; military considered.
• SBE/SMPTE/IT certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production equipment: robotic cameras, switchers, play-out servers, graphics, lighting, weather, audio gear.
• Maintain news-gathering equipment: ENG cameras, field gear, DSNG/SNG trucks, editing systems.
• Provide IT systems and end-user support across the station.
• Oversee transmitter sites, microwave and satellite systems, signal distribution, and automation.
