Job summary

WLUC is seeking a Broadcast/IT Maintenance Technician to keep our live streams rock-solid and newsroom systems reliable. You will own the station’s video, audio, and computer infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation across all screens and platforms.

The ideal candidate has an IT/electronics background, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work evenings and weekends in a 24/7 news environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in IT, electronics, or a computer-related field.
• Self-starter who can work efficiently without supervision.
• Proficient at troubleshooting under pressure.
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft OS, Office, and LAN/WAN networking.
• Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical people.
• Comfortable climbing a ladder up to 10 feet.
• Willing to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Team player who collaborates across departments.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Own the infrastructure: Install and maintain the video, audio, and computer systems powering the station.
• Bridge the digital divide: Manage servers, network security, and services for multi-platform content.
• Support the News Department: Provide direct technical support for reporters and anchors.
• Master hardware: Install and repair workstations on-site with speed.
• Maintain transmitters and studio equipment to keep signals on air.
• Apply regular security updates and address facility IT needs.
• Assist with building maintenance and weather-related tasks as needed.
