Job summary

Hearst Television in Manchester, NH, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the station’s technical and operational teams in a live broadcast environment. You will plan, document, and execute assignments while collaborating with department heads and overseeing daily station operations.

A strong leader with broadcast excellence and community focus is required, reporting to the General Manager. The role emphasizes coordinating staff, equipment, and regulatory compliance across studio and field

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in broadcast operations.
• Three or more years of management experience.
• FCC General Class License, SBE certification or related certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of broadcast engineering systems and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and schedule technical and operational staff.
• Oversee studio and field equipment supporting broadcast and on-air streams.
• Manage daily operation of the station including mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.
• Monitor multiple on-air channels ensuring regulatory compliance and quality control.
• Lead budgeting and capital planning for engineering and technical operations.
• Support maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of studio and field equipment.
• Oversee IT integrity, infrastructure and related technical systems.
• Maintain transmitter and satellite antenna systems, automation, and routing systems.
• Demonstrate knowledge of television maintenance, FCC requirements and OSHA guidelines.
