Job summary

Kentucky Educational Television (KET) in Lexington seeks a full-time Audio Technician to support public media productions. You will operate audio systems for broadcast and digital platforms, provide on-site recording services, and assist with studio and field productions under producers and directors.

The role requires lifting up to 40 pounds and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and travel. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting or Audio Production and at least two years

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting or Audio Production with at least two years’ professional audio-recording experience.
• Ability to move/lift equipment up to 40 pounds and operate in live environments.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and overnight travel; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate audio systems to create high quality programs for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Provide audio recording services under producers' direction, including mic selection, sound monitoring and mixing, and syncing with video.
• Act as audio board operator on live and recorded studio multi-camera productions; handle field sound mixer/recorder for interviews and b‑roll.
• Assist with grip and lighting as required; drive and assist in production vehicles.
• Operate professional studio and field cameras as needed.
• Collaborate with Producers, Directors, and Associate Producers to achieve KET production goals.
