The technician will detect, troubleshoot, and resolve outages for data, video, and telephone services, handling emergency restorations and basic documentation while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of hands-on telecom field experience (coax, fiber, or utilities).
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to read maps and use basic computer skills.
• Bucket Certified; Ohm’s.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair aerial and underground coax and fiber infrastructure.
• Respond to outages and perform emergency restoration.

A Day in the Life of the Broadband Network Technician I:This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on maintaining and repairing aerial and underground coax and fiber infrastructure. The technician will work outdoors daily using bucket trucks, ladders, and hand tools to restore service, perform preventative maintenance, and support network reliability.The Broadband Network Technician I is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting and resolving system outages for data, video, and telephone.This role will be responsible for emergency restoration of coax, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage and splicing.The BNT I is required to maintain documentation as needed.This role participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation.Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference.Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damagePerform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipmentMonitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulationsObserve and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activitiesComplete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logsInstall, replace, and repair coaxial and fiber optic cabling, including aerial and buried plantPerform pole transfers, span replacements, and drop repairsOperate bucket trucks, ladders, and field equipmentParticipation in a 24/7 on-call rotationOther duties as assignedWhat You Bring to the Table:Requirements/QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent2+ years of hands-on experience in telecom field work, cabling, construction, or utilities (coax, fiber, or electrical)Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's licenseCustomer ServiceCommunication (verbal, written)Basic Computer SkillsAptitude to learn to skillsProblem solvingTime ManagementTeamworkWorking aloneAbility to read and interpret mapsBucket Certified; Ohm’sUnderstand the Outside PlantPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbsWork performed in both climate‑controlled and non‑climate‑controlled environments, with potential exposure to heat, cold, dust, damp conditions, uneven surfaces, heights, and moving vehiclesProlonged standing, walking, sitting, and driving requiredAbility to safely climb and work from ladders for extended periods of timeFrequent reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, and using hands above and below shoulder levelAbility to bend, twist, kneel, squat, crawl, and maintain various body positions and perform fine motor tasks, forceful gripping, and limited keyboardingWe're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including:401k retirement plan, with employer matchInsurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurancePaid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organizationFloating Holiday: 40 hours per yearPaid Holidays: 7 days per yearPaid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local lawsTuition reimbursement programEmployee discount program*Benefits listed above are for regular full-time positionThe base salary range in Washington for this position is $23.15 $35.74 per hour, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable.
