Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is hiring a Brine Attendant to maintain 90% brine salinity in the brine tank and ensure proper cheese stacking in brine canals. The role requires following SOPs, keeping filters clean, and performing CIP for the brine UF system.

Ideal candidates will have a HS diploma or GED, forklift certification, and basic math skills, with a focus on safety and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced production environment.

SUMMARY

The Brine In Attendant must maintain at least 90% salinity levels in the brine tank, stack cheese into the brine canals to avoid backing up to the RMC's and be able to keep the brine filtering screens clean. The brine operator must be able to CIP the brine UF.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Keep all brine filters clean to encourage flow
• Stack all cheese into the brine canals to maintain loaf shape and save brine space

• QUALIFICATIONS:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
• Must be able to keep track of vat breaks and vat numbers
• Must be able to operate equipment efficiently
• Must know how to use chemicals safely, wearing PPE
• Must be able to check chemical concentrations
• Must work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures including use of safety equipment
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

All production personnel are responsible for food safety including, but not limited to practicing GMP's and appropriate food defense techniques.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to operate equipment efficiently
• Advanced math and basic statistics
• Obtain a forklift license
• Effective communication skills
• REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Being able to resolve issues/problems that involve numerous variables in demanding situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, and squat for several minutes at a time
• Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period
• Must be able to lift up to eighty (80) pounds
• Must be able to enter into confined spaces
• Ability to reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear
• Employee is required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus
• WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts
• Environment is occasionally damp and cold. Caustic, acid, and chlorine chemicals will be used and may emit fumes into the air
• Floors may be wet and slippery
• Room temperatures will range from 35 degrees F. to an excess of 130 degrees F
• The use of safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, rubber gloves, rubber boots and aprons are all necessary in this area

Hourly Range: $26.31-$31.05
