Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a shift worker for the Brine Room sanitation and salt management duties. The role involves maintaining brine salinity, monitoring temperatures, and ensuring cheese flow to the packing area.

You will perform regular cleaning of brine filters and related equipment, handle vat sampling, and support RMC operations while adhering to safety and quality standards. This position is based in California and offers an hourly wage.

• Adding Salt to the Brine Maker.
• Cleaning Brine Filters and related equipment.
• Monitor salinity, brine temperature and cheese temperature.
• Assist RMC operator and maintain cheese flow to packing room.

Responsibilities

• Sanitation of Brine Room and related areas during shift.
• Maintain brine salinity at target levels and ensure proper temperatures.
• Add salt to brine maker as required and check equipment.
• Clean brine and flume filters every 4 hours; clean flume daily.
• Take vat samples to the lab and document results.
• Release cheese from the pit and ensure proper flow to packing.
• Adhere to safety rules and food quality standards.
• Any additional duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and/or duties:

• Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
• Responsible for overall Sanitation of the Brine Room.
• Adding Salt to the Brine Maker.
• Cleaning of All Brine Filter’s.
• Responsible for accurate Vat separations after RMC.
• Check Salinity, Brine temperature and cheese temperature during the work shift.
• Help RMC operator change forms, maintain cheese flow to the packing room, maintain brine salinity at 94%.
• Clean brine and flume filter’s every 4 Hours; clean flume daily.
• Fogging brine room during work shift.
• Loading vats into Cages.
• Foaming of the Flume and Overhead piping.
• Take Vat samples to the Lab.
• Clean cages daily.
• Release cheese from the pit.
• Add salt to cheese in flume as necessary.
• Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality.
• Any other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, and squat for several minutes at a time.
• Must be able to stand on feet for long intervals of time for majority of shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to reach with hands, arms and talk and hear.
• Employee is required to stand, walk, and use hand to finger, handle or feel.
• Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Environment is occasionally damp and cold. Acid and chlorine chemicals will be used and may emit fumes into the air.
• Floors may be wet and slippery.
• Room temperatures will range from 35 degrees F. to an excess of 130 degrees F.

The use of safety glasses, ear plugs, rubber gloves, rubber boots, are all necessary in this area. This list includes but is not limited to the mentioned items.

Hourly Rate: $24.15
