Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking candidates for trades apprentice or maintenance repairer positions in the Houma Sub-District, District 02. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing movable bridges, tunnels, and related equipment, including engines, hydraulic systems, and bridge houses.

No experience or training is required; a Louisiana Class "D" Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.

Responsibilities

• MAINTAINS AND PERFORMS GENERAL REPAIRS ON TUNNEL AND MOVABLE BRIDGE ENGINES AND GENERATORS. THIS WORK INCLUDES BUT IT NOT LIMITED TO THE REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF COUPLINGS, BEARINGS, SHAFTING, CABLES, SLEEVES, APRON RAMPS, COUNTERWEIGHTS, HYDRAULIC LINES, HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS, DIFFERENTIALS, GEAR DRIVES, GRID DECKS, HYDRAULIC PUMPS, WINCHES, AND OTHER RELATED MOVABLE BRIDGES AND TUNNEL COMPONENTS AND EQUIPMENT.
• MAKES GENERAL REPAIRS TO INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF BRIDGE HOUSES.
• PERFORMS MANUAL OPERATIONS ON MOVABLE BRIDGES.
• PERFORMS TRAFFIC CONTROL ON BRIDGES
